Waltz to Mars

Johann Strauss II · The Blue Danube10:30

A fleet leaves Earth in three-quarter time.

Strauss wrote The Blue Danube as a waltz for dancers. Here the dancers are ships.

The famous five-note call is five lights running up a hull. The answer is two beacons on a station.

Launch, the dance in orbit, the long crossing, Mars, and a new dawn.

Watch for

  • The rocket at the tower at dawn
  • Two ships waltz above the Earth
  • The fleet arrives at Mars
  • Ships landed in a green valley on Mars
